Star Wars: The Old Republic "Blood of the Empire" (Part 1)

Review: Star Wars The Old Republic: Blood of the Empire

(Part 1 of 3)

"Once statues of great men stood before the cliffs. Those statues were monuments to warriors, alchemists, great philosophers who refined the sacred doctrines of the Sith. A hundred thousand slaves gave their lives to carve those statues. I am talking to you governor."

After hundreds of years of exile, the mysterious Sith strike back towards the republic, determined to crush it, along with the Jedi order. The Sith struck fast, catching the republic of guard, and gaining a foothold in the galaxy. On the war torn planet of Begeren, thousands of Imperial troops march onto the capital, bringing death to the citizens of the republic. For young Sith Teneb Kel, an Sith Assassin, it is his only chance to rise above his lowly beginnings as a slave and prove his worth to the Dark Council. As the brave defenders of the republic fight an desperate last stand to give the governor time to flee, the young Sith gets his chance to prove his worth. His mission is to execute the governor for having destroyed ancient statues of Siths, to make an quarry, so that he could earn money by selling gemestones. The Sith strikes fast, and he shows no mercy. Not soon after this, the republic has been utterly crushed, and the Empire has marched into the capital.
Normally this might have been a time for celebration, but not for Teneb Kel. The Dark Council was impressed, and it had a new task for him: To hunt down the Sith Emperors former apprentice, Exal Kressh.

The story is great, but lets not forget the phenomenal art work!

The art work is of a very good standard through out the whole comic, something that I have not seen since "Star Wars: Purge".

The Blood of the Empire really beats the living crap out of the first three "The Old Republic" comics, which were not all that impressive. So if someone thought that they were an let down, and thought about skipping this one, then I would recommend that you re-think that one! The main character, along with his alien slave, and friend, are also interesting characters, and I would say that they are some of the best Dark Horse has come up with thus far.

The ending really leaves you hungering for part 2, so make sure you dont miss that one out! (I will cover part two in my next review)
